ID photos come in very different shapes.

A US green card photo follows the same 2 × 2 inch rules as a US passport. A Chinese ID photo is a 26 × 32 mm digital format. A one-inch form photo is 25 × 35 mm; a two-inch photo is 35 × 49 mm. The sizes are close enough to look similar and different enough to matter when a form is printed.

The ID studio starts with the document presets we could verify, and adds a custom millimetre size for everything else. Enter the width and height from your form, and the editor calculates pixels at 300 DPI. If a portal gives a different pixel count, use that as a guide or choose the nearest preset and check the output.

Popular ID presets

  • US green card / ID: 2 × 2 in, white or off-white background.
  • China ID card: 26 × 32 mm, exported at 358 × 441 px, white background.
  • India OCI: 2 × 2 in, plain white background.
  • EU national ID: 35 × 45 mm with a light background.
  • Standard 1-inch and 2-inch: 25 × 35 mm and 35 × 49 mm.

Copies, not just one photo

Most ID forms ask for one photo, but applications often ask for two, four or a full sheet for records. Build a 4 × 6 sheet and cut the copies at the guides. The exact print size is preserved because the sheet is laid out at 300 DPI on the device, not scaled by the browser window.

Keep the original safe

Keep the original camera photo until the application is approved. A print at 295 × 413 pixels is suitable for a form; it is not a master image for a passport or a high-resolution poster. For a document that requires an exact digital size, confirm the portal's dimensions before you upload.

ID photo questions

Can I make a 1-inch or 2-inch photo?

Yes. The ID studio includes a 1-inch preset at 25 × 35 mm and a 2-inch preset at 35 × 49 mm. If your form uses a slightly different definition, choose Custom size and enter the exact millimetres.

What size is a US green card photo?

A green card photo uses the same 2 × 2 inch format as a US passport photo: a plain white or off-white background, full face, neutral expression and a head height of 1 to 1⅜ inches.

How do I make a Chinese ID card photo?

The Chinese ID preset is 26 × 32 mm and exports at 358 × 441 pixels with a white background. Confirm the current requirements of the office accepting it, since digital upload rules can vary by region.

Can I print many copies on one sheet?

Yes. Choose a 4 × 6, 5 × 7, A4 or US Letter sheet. The editor fits as many copies as the paper allows at their true size and adds cut guides. Print at 100% / actual size, not fit-to-page.

Are ID photos edited online uploaded?

No. The ID photo editor processes the image locally. Face detection, background cleanup and the print sheet all run in your browser. Only the separate AI headshot studio uploads a compressed portrait, for one edit.
