Visa Photo Maker — US, Schengen, UK & China.
Pick the country and visa document, and the editor sets the physical size, head band and background. Replace the background locally, then download the photo or a print sheet.
Start with a clear portrait.
Upload a JPEG, PNG or WebP from your phone or computer. The photo opens in this tab and stays here — the editor never uploads it.
Photo check
Measured on the current crop, in this browser. These are geometry and image checks, not an official acceptance decision. Glasses, expression, clothing and the issuing authority’s current rules still need a human check.
Fill a sheet.
Arrange copies at their true physical size, add cut guides, then print on photo paper. The sheet is rendered at 300 DPI on this device.
4 × 6 fills the paper edge to edge; enable borderless printing. If your printer cannot print borderless, choose 5 × 7 or A4.
Visa photos are not one global size.
A US visa photo is a 2 × 2 inch square. A Schengen visa usually asks for 35 × 45 mm with the head filling 70–80% of the frame. China commonly uses 33 × 48 mm. The UK uses a light background and a different head-height window. Applying the wrong country's geometry is a common, avoidable rejection.
Start with the country and document in the editor. The preset carries the physical size, pixel dimensions, background suggestion, head band and eye line. If a consulate or visa centre publishes an extra rule, such as a digital upload size, follow that notice as well.
Sizes in this studio
- United States: 2 × 2 in, plain white or off-white, head 50–69% of image height.
- Schengen: 35 × 45 mm, head 70–80%, white or light grey depending on the consulate.
- China: 33 × 48 mm, white background, full face centred.
- United Kingdom: 35 × 45 mm, plain light background, no glasses.
- Plus Canada, Japan, Australia, India, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Singapore presets.
Digital applications
Many visa portals crop or compress the upload after you submit it. Use the physical preset as the source of truth, keep a clean original, and read the portal's own pixel and file-size limits. If the portal wants a different digital size, choose Custom size and enter its exact millimetres, or use the larger 300 DPI export as your master.
Before you submit
Check the photo's age, expression, glasses policy and the background colour named by your visa class. Some countries require a neutral expression; others allow a closed-mouth smile. A passport photo preset is a starting point, not a substitute for the consulate checklist.
Visa photo questions
What size is a US visa photo?
A US visa photo is 2 × 2 inches (51 × 51 mm). At 300 DPI this editor exports 600 × 600 pixels. The head should fill 50–69% of the image height, and the background should be plain white or off-white.
What size is a Schengen visa photo?
The common Schengen format is 35 × 45 mm with the head filling 70–80% of the frame. Some consulates specify white and others light grey; check the checklist for the country where you are applying.
Can I use the same photo for a passport and a visa?
Sometimes, but not always. The physical size, head proportion, background colour and expression rules can differ. Start from a fresh preset for the document you are actually submitting, and use the original photo rather than a cropped export.
Do you upload my visa photo?
No. This visa photo editor runs locally in your browser. The background replacement and print sheet are generated on your device. The optional AI headshot studio is the only feature that sends a compressed portrait to Cloudflare.
Where can I check the latest visa photo rules?
Use the issuing authority or visa centre as the final source. This site links to official guidance where available, and the photo-size directory lists the published dimensions. Rules can change without much notice.
